Heuristic Technique for the Search of Interception Trajectories to Asteroids with the Use of Solar Sails

With the advances of space-exploration technologies, a long-lasting concern is finally being addressed: deflection potentially hazardous objects (PHOs). Most recently, first mission this kind was launched by NASA—the Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART). Nevertheless, it estimated that great number these PHOs are unattainable means current chemical propulsion systems. in mind, study proposes development heuristic technique for search interception trajectories with use solar sails and its application determining set possible to intercept asteroids. As case study, hybrid inspired DART proposed using sail as after initial combustion. The dynamics consider model radiation pressure acceleration function orientation sail. In turn, defined developed goal defining alternative compared original mission. These result different impact conditions durations. Although breaks symmetry solutions, results obtained offer possibility fuel economy or even better achievement greater energy objects.
